3.5.6 Loading Airframe Options
After the base factory defaults are loaded to the G1000, the technician must check and verify which
equipment or installation options exist on the aircraft. See the options list in 3.4.3.
If the DA 40 aircraft being updated is equipped with any additional equipment options, follow this
procedure to load them.
IMPORTANT
For System software version 0321.23 or later, loading the STANDARD GFC 700 option requires that the
-1 STC Configuration must be installed with GSA 81 Servo Actuators P/N 011-00878-00 and GSM 85
Servo Gearbox P/N 011-00894-07 and 011-00894-04 or GSM 86 Servo Gearbox P/N 011-01904-03.
If the incorrect GFC 700 option is loaded the servo software and gains will not load but the
SUMMARRY field will still indicate PASS. If this occurs simply reselect the correct option and reload.
If it is not caught later in this procedure when the software verification is confirmed an AFCS failure will
be annunciated on the PFD until the correct software is loaded.
IMPORTANT!
For System software version 0321.23 or later, loading the ENHANCED GFC 700 option requires that the
-1 STC Configuration must be installed with GSA 81 Servo Actuators P/N 011-00878-20 and GSM 86
Servo Gearbox P/N 011-01904-03.
If the incorrect GFC 700 option is loaded the servo software and gains will not load but the
SUMMARRY field will still indicate PASS. If this occurs simply reselect the correct option and reload.
If it is not caught later in this procedure when the software verification is confirmed an AFCS failure will
be annunciated on the PFD until the correct software is loaded.
NOTE
TAWS, ChartView, ESP, Enhanced SAR and SVS options are covered in a separate
section. See Sections 3.5.9, 3.5.10, 3.5.11, 3.5.12 and 3.5.13 respectively.
1. At the System Upload page, activate cursor and rotate the FMS knob once to activate the GROUP
menu.
2. Select ‘Options’ from the GROUP window and press ENT.
3. From the ITEM window, and select the desired airframe option to load.
4. Press the ENT key.
5. At this point, any applicable configuration and software files will be displayed in the PRODUCT
window.
6. After reviewing the files to be loaded, press the LOAD ALL softkey.
7. Monitor the status of the upload. When the upload is finished, press ENT to acknowledge.
8. View the SUMMARY field and ensure that all items are ‘complete’: Verify that PASS appears in
green at the check box for each file.
9. Repeat for each additional option configuration.
